Coinbase Pro is deprecated

Coinbase used to have two apps: Coinbase and Coinbase Pro. The Coinbase Pro app is no longer available as a mobile app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Similarly, if you try to sign in to your Coinbase Pro account at you will receive a message that Coinbase Pro has been deprecated.

What replaced Coinbase Pro?

Coinbase Pro was merged with the Coinbase app and is now called Coinbase Advanced. Advanced traders can toggle a button in the app’s settings if they want to use advanced features such as limit orders etc. Some former coinbase pro users are complaining that the trading experience on Coinbase advanced is inferior to what it used to be.

How to Transfer Crypto from Coinbase to Coinbase Pro

You can no longer transfer crypto from Coinbase to Coinbase Pro because Coinbase Pro no longer exists.

If you turn on the Coinbase advanced feature you will still have access to your funds and crypto.

It is the same app so you no longer need to send it elsewhere.

Standard Coinbase Account vs Coinbase Pro (aka Coinbased Advanced)

You don’t have to be an experienced trader to use Coinbase Advanced.

The main reason you should switch to Coinbase Advanced is that the trading fees are way lower.

Coinbase Advanced does not have a spread because you are interacting directly with the order book.

The spot maker fee is 0.60% while the taker fee is 0.80%. You can find the advanced trading fee structure on coinbase here.

Other features include

  • Limit orders
  • Stop orders
  • You can see your open orders and cancel them or edit them
  • Derivatives

Switch to Coinbase Advanced (previously Coinvase Pro) in 2 simple steps.

  1. Login to your account
  2. Go to settings in the top left
  3. Toggle Coinbase Advanced on

How do I fund my Coinbase pro account

Funding Coinbase advanced is the same as funding your standard coinbase account

Coinbase offers the following deposit options:

  • Debit card or credit card

How to transfer crypto from Coinbase Wallet to Coinbase Pro

Coinbase Wallet is a separate crypto wallet developed and maintained by Coinbase.

The biggest difference is that you hold custody of your keys.

For this reason, they call it a decentralized wallet.

The wallet integrates with third-party apps such as Uniswap and other DeFi protocols.

If you want to transfer funds from your Coinbase Wallet to Coinbase Pro you can’t because coinbase Pro no longer exists.

What you can do is transfer your crypto assets to your Coinbase Advanced app.

To do this follow these steps

  1. Into your coinbase account and click on receive
  2. Select the cryptocurrency that you want to receive. If you don’t see it in the dropdown type it in the search bar and select it
  3. Select the network you want to send it on. For example, if you want to receive USDT choose wether you want to receive it on Tron, BSC, Ethereum, etc.
  4. Copy the address.
  5. Open your Coinbase Wallet and click on send
  6. Paste the address you copied previously and select the same network you selected
  7. Enter the amount that you want to send
  8. Review and confirm the transaction
  9. The transfer should happen within the hour if not seconds depending on what cryptocurrency you are sending.

Coinbase Pro no longer exists but you can toggle your account from Coinbase to Coinbase Advanced which will result in much lower fees.

Are Coinbase and Coinbase Pro the same?

Coinbase Pro has now merged with Coinbase and is called Coinbase Advanced. There is only one coinbase exchange app and one website. However, there is also a Coinbase Wallet app which is a separate thing.

Should I move my Bitcoin from Coinbase?

If you have a lot of bitcoin and you want to take custody of your private keys you should move your Bitcoin to a hardware wallet. These are considered the most robust. If you don’t trust yourself to manage your private keys then consider using a Coinbase Vault. This is a free service that ensures your crypto assets are held in cold storage with a time delay of at least 48 hours. Check out Coinbase Wallet Vs Vault: Which One Is Best for You for more.

How do I send crypto from Coinbase for free?

You can’t send crypto for free because you need to pay blockchain fees. This is how blockchains work and you will have to pay them regardless of which crypto exchange you use. However, depending on the crypto some of the transaction fees can be so low that they are effectively zero. For example, XRP transfers cost 0.00001 XRP.
