FPGA mining rigs come in a variety of designs. Since they happen to be programmable, very few come as plug-and-play devices.

A higher mining difficulty factor means a more complex cryptographic problem. Often, a more complex problem yields higher mining rewards. Thus, profitability is dependent on the type of coin that you are mining. It also depends on the crypto market performance of the digital assets being mined. For example, when the price of bitcoin goes up, you get higher mining rewards.

5. Noise level

If you are mining from home or office, noise level becomes an important factor. High noise levels can distract attention from other home or office duties. Noise level is measured in terms of decibels. Most standard plug-and-play mining rigs have this rating. Given the same hash rate and power rating, go for a mining rig with a lower number of decibels. A noisy mining rig means that more energy is wasted to run the fans. Noise is wasted energy.
