In this article, I will walk you through how to get yourself a Topps NFT. There are multiple ways you can go about this. First, I will walk you through what Topps is and then describe the steps you need to take to buy one.
What is Topps?
Topps is an American company that makes and sells trading cards, collectibles, and games. It started off by making gum, candy and collectibles. They were founded in 1938 and are now part of a bigger company called Fanatics Collectibles, which is itself a subsidiary of a larger group called Fanatics Holdings, Inc.
Topps creates physical and digital products that include trading cards, games, stickers, albums, and special events. They have a series of products based on things like major league baseball, soccer, and Star Wars. They also have apps that people can download to collect and trade digital cards.

Topps recently dived into the NFT craze and has now an arsenal of non-fungible tokens based on its trading cards. we’ll take a look you at where and how you can purchase Topps NFTs shortly.
What is an NFT?
NFT stand for Non-fungible token and refers to a digital asset that is unique and cannot be exchanged for other assets on a one-to-one basis. They are often used to represent ownership of unique digital items such as art, music, videos, and other forms of media. For a more thorough explanation of NFTs check out my deep dive into Ape Coin.
Collections available on ToppsNFTs
Topps’ NFTs are based on its trading cards and are stored on the Avalanche blockchain, which allows them to be bought, sold, and traded like traditional trading cards, but with the added security and verifiability of the blockchain. You can find these on ToppsNFTs.com.
Topps NFTs come in premium packs and standard packs and can be purchased with a credit card or a cryptocurrency.
One of the most popular Topps series is the Garbage Pail Kids, a collectible pack that has been around since the 1920s.

Now, dudes and dudesses, allow me to walk you through six ways you can get your hands on some rare NFTs from Topps
6 ways to get Topps NFTs
1. The Official Topps Website
The best and most straightforward way to get yourself a Topps NFT is to purchase it directly from the official Topps website.

Topps has developed its marketplace where anyone can buy and sell NFTs, directly via the company’s official website.
The process is pretty simple and intuitive.
The first thing you need to do is to submit your details and open an account on the website.
Next, head over to the Topps website homepage, navigate through different categories and browse through various collections.
Some categories you can check out are signatures, motion, booklets, rookies, and comics.
The buying process on this website is very straightforward.
After finding a Topps NFT you like, just add it to your cart as you would on any regular online shopping website.
You can purchase some NFTs for your collection by using your credit card. In the background Topps will convert your precious dollars into crypto and make the purchase for you.
What’s even cooler is that Topps lets you purchase special editions, such as 3D Toppsiccles, which feature amazing lenticular 3D images.
Once you’ve finished cherry-picking the NFTs you want and completed the checkout process, your newly owned Topps NFTs will automatically be added to your collection. Easy peasy.
UPDATE: When I try to sign up to Topps they display a message saying that they are currently not accepting new users at this time.
If you can’t find what you are looking for on their site then you might want to check out what you can buy on the secondary market.
So let’s look at some of the alternatives:
2. Wax crypto’s unique partnership with Topps
The Worldwide Asse eXchange (WAX) is a blockchain that aims to power e-commerce transactions for NFTs. Check What is WAX crypto for a more in-depth view.
The WAX ecosystem is massive in scale powering more transactions in absolute volume that OpenSea. For this reason, Topps have partnered with WAX to launch their baseball nft collection. If you navigate to toppsmlb.wdny.io you will find the full collection there. Somewhat annoyingly you can only pruchase from Topps whenever they decide to release a new collection. After that you need to go to the secondary marketplace to purchase individual cards from others.
The largest secondary markets that utilises WAX is Atomic Hub.

Wether you are on wdny.io or Atomic Hub you will need to set up a WAX Cloud Wallet. Don’t get scared. This is way easier to do than some other wallets in crypto.
To set up a wax wallet follow these steps
- Navigate to wallet.wax.io
- Sign up for an account by entering your email address and a password
- Check your email to activate your account. When you click on activate your account it will take you back to the website
- Login to your account and accept the terms. You need to be older than 18.
- Next you can fund your wallet either via Coinbase or Moonpay. If you use Moonpay just follow the steps. It will ask you for your card details
- And that’s it. You have now funded your wallet and you are good to go.
Now, when you visit Atomic Hub you can just make your purchase using your wallet. When you click on buy, it will ask you to connect your wallet. You just need to enter you wax wallet login details to do this and, hey presto, you are good to go. (Learn more about wallets in my article what is a crypto address)
Atomic Hub isn’t the only marketplace that sells Topps’s baseball NFTs. You can also check out neftyblocks.com and nfthive.io. They are both similar to Atomic Hub and require a WAX wallet.
If setting up a WAX wallet is not your thing then here some further options:

If you don’t have a wallet with crypto already loaded on it, you can purchase Ethereum directly from the OpenSea website using your debit or credit card via a third-party platform called MoonPay. MoonPay is not supported in all regions so you need to check first.
Be patient, your transaction will normally take a few minutes to process, but once it’s complete, your newly bought NFTs will be added to your OpenSea account. You can keep them, show them off to your friends and family, and trade them for a profit.
It’s a quick and easy process, and before you know it, you’ll be the proud owner of a unique and valuable NFT!

Alternatively, to get a Topps NFT in sweepstakes, just enter a contest where Topps NFTs are being given away as prizes.
To process of entering sweepstakes is simple. Just follow the eligibility rules and requirements of the contest, which may be something like completing a particular task, sharing a post on your socials, or providing your personal information in a survey etc.
If you’re lucky and end up being chosen as a winner, you’ll receive the Topps NFT as a prize.
7. Person to Person Transactions
It’s also worth noting that Topps NFTs can be traded or gifted directly from one person to another. This is probably the most difficult way to go about it. But if you are an aficionado maybe there is an NFT that you cannot find on any of the marketplaces. In which case you need to network.`
You can google for people who are selling Topps NFTs, or you can join NFT forums and other online communities and ask for collectors who are willing to sell. For example check out this forum. You may also want to keep an eye out on the discussion happening on the Topps NFTs discord channel.
Once you’ve found someone willing to sell you a Topps NFT, put your business skills to the test and negotiate a bargain.
This usually means agreeing on a price, a payment method, and any other conditions of the sale.
To complete the transaction, you’ll need to transfer the amount of crypto you agreed upon as a price to the seller. The seller, assuming you’re not being scammed, will then transfer the NFT to your digital wallet, and gracefully hand over ownership and bragging rights.
